Dairy pollution into a balancing pond, low DO levels

Background

Despite the latest high-tech equipment and diligent workforce, Arla suffered an equipment failure which leaked dairy pollution into a balancing pond. The pond also suffered from historical sludge build-up amounting to 5,000 tonnes and low DO levels as a result of sodium percarbonate being prescribed by the Environment Agency, killing the ecosystem. Wildlife was destroyed, the water turned black and DO levels fell to almost zero.

Solution

Eco WMT to treat the pond with bacteria specifically designed to digest (eat) dairy waste. After 4 weeks of treatment, approximately half of the sludge had been digested, the water was clear and DO readings of 60% to 71% were present.

“This is remarkable. The pollution caused by equipment failure created a smelly, rancid, anaerobic balancing pond. The Environment Agency immediately stopped us discharging into the canal and insisted we tip sodium percarbonate into the water. This killed everything and turned the water black. Why are Eco Tabs better than my current products?

There are no current products the same as Eco-tabs. Physical removal of the sludge and specialist removal by tanker was the only alternative.

Eco Tabs are unique and 100% environmentally friendly and 100% safe for all human, animal, avian, aquatic and wildlife. Eco Tabs are a blend of specific non-pathogenic bacteria chosen to do a certain job, i.e. digest (eat) organic sludge. Once the bacteria have digested all the organic sludge, they die off (3-4 months) and are digested by the new bacteria. The byproducts of non-pathogenic bacteria are 95% water and 5% carbon dioxide.

Do Eco Tabs work out better value than my current products?
