Background

Lloyd Park was restored in 2012 with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery Fund. The moat is of concrete construction in a ‘U’ shape and dates to medieval times, when it was used as a defence for a house standing in the grounds. Today it consists of a grass area, shrubs and trees. The moat has no water inlets or outlets, so remains largely static. This has caused a build-up of decaying organic material and a large amount of uneaten duck food (white bread) and duck faeces, resulting in an in-balance of nutrients.

Solution

Eco Tabs and shock were administered weekly for 4 weeks to allow a bacterial colony to develop, then monthly for a further 2 months – reducing to a smaller monthly maintenance dose.

Eco Tabs’ unique product formulation delivered increased bacterial treatment to the complete moat water surface area of approx. 3600m2.

“We were having real problems with smell, unsightly bacterial blooms and blanket weed, and getting complaints from local residents and park users. Since starting treatment, the moat water is much clearer and – to date – we’ve had very little odour and no bacterial blooms, despite really hot weather. There is also significantly less blanket weed this season. Eco WMT have provided a professional, reliable and helpful service. Based on initial results, we’ll be recommending them to other sites.”

Why are Eco Tabs better than my current products?

There are no products on the market similar to Eco Tabs. Manual cleaning of the pond and the removal of weeds and algae were the normal routine for the ground keepers. This meant using a boat for access and specialist disposal of toxic sludge.

Eco Tabs are unique and 100% environmentally friendly, as well as 100% safe for all human, animal, avian, aquatic and wildlife. Eco Tabs are a blend of specific non-pathogenic bacteria chosen to do a certain job, i.e. digest (eat) organic sludge. Once the bacteria have digested all the organic sludge, they die off (3-4 months) and are digested by the new bacteria. The byproducts of non-pathogenic bacteria are 95% water and 5% carbon dioxide.

Are Eco Tabs better value than my current products?

Compared to manual cleaning/removal and disposal, customers can expect to significantly reduce their costs dependent on flows, arriving effluent etc. PPE is not required.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

What are the benefits of using Eco Tabs?

Each Eco Tab contains billions of dehydrated bacteria CFU. Every microbiologist will confirm that bacterial digestion is optimised in an aerated environment. Therefore, every Eco Tab contains sodium bicarbonate to deliver an oxygenated environment within the water column without the need for pumps and power etc.

Are there any negative impacts?

No. All Eco Tabs are 100% safe for the environment. In addition, PPE is not required.
